Our First "Expedition" Trip to Taiwan 第一次"出征" Part II

We wasted no time and set off early the next morning to source for products.
Our first destination of the day was An Ping Gu Bao 安平古堡 in Tainan and of course to fill our stomach with good Taiwan Food. The food we are interested in is the famous Chou's Shrimp Rolls周氏虾卷.

We quickly ordered the best food on the menu which were so yummy.
Here's some pictures of the food.

We checked out the details of its franchise and with a happy stomach, we proceeded to our next stop - A 100 Year Old Stall....stay tuned.

Our First "Expedition" Trip to Taiwan 第一次"出征" Part I

Not knowing what to sell, we headed to Taiwan with an open mind on what was our very first "expedition" to source for business ideas.

The expedition trip was in late Dec 2004 and was a 3 day 2 nights over the weekend. It was also Elaine's first trip to Tainan as well and she was really excited.
Since we were familiar with Tainan (having spent our entire UMC training stint in Tainan), it was naturally our preferred destination. Moreover, Tainan has some of the best Taiwan Finger Food.
With many places to cover and so much food to eat, we set off to the nearest night market - Hua Yuan Ye Shi 台湾夜市 - 花园夜市 on the very first night we arrived.

In Search Business Opportunities
After we came back from our training in Tainan, we were very busy with the new plant startup and have to shelf any plans of starting our own business. The other thing is of course the lack of capital funding. The big break came in end 2004 when we had a cash windfall from our company. Our desire to chart our own future as business owners were re-ignited.
Knowing that we couldn't have done it ourselves to start a business and keep our jobs, Boon Kiat and I knew that we need more partners so we shared our business idea with a few close friends in our same company who immediately agreed to the idea.
Therefore, the alliance was forged and the next thing was of course what do we want to sell. Read more from the next post.
